Each year, thousands gather across the U.S. to mourn transgender lives lost to violence during Trans Day of Remembrance (TDOR). This year's ceremony holds a special weight, both due to politicization of trans citizens and the passing of two transgender West Chester University students, Lily-Dawn & Gabrielle, in late June.
Detailed information for this year's TDOR ceremony can be found here and will be hosted at the Unitarian Congregation of West Chester and sponsored by a group of organizations. The space has no religious imagery, though a prayer will be read at the beginning of the event.
Names of the victims will be read and an open-mic space will be provided. While the event's focus is remembrance, it's also a space for community building and advocacy.
All are welcome to come together in a safe space to mourn and find strength in our communities.
