Welcoming Sean Williams as Our New President
Dear Members and Friends,
We are excited to share an important leadership update from the LGBT Equality Alliance of Chester County. The Board of Directors has elected Sean Williams as the Alliance’s new President.
Sean brings four years of experience serving on the Alliance Board, including one year as Secretary and the past two years as Vice President.
During that time, he has developed a deep understanding of our organization, our community, and the work required to continue strengthening LGBTQIA+ connection, support, advocacy, and resources throughout Chester County.
Sean’s experience within the Alliance gives us important continuity as we move into this next chapter. He already knows our programs, partnerships, volunteers, staff, and community, and he has been closely involved in the conversations shaping where the organization goes next.
We are excited to have someone stepping into this role who understands both the foundation we are building from and the opportunities ahead.
As President, Sean will work alongside our Board, staff, volunteers, community members, and partners as the Alliance continues to grow its capacity, deepen community connections, strengthen existing programs, and respond to the evolving needs of LGBTQIA+ people across Chester County.
This leadership transition also gives us the opportunity to recognize someone who has played an enormous role in bringing the Alliance to where it is today.
After eight years of service on the Board of Directors, including five years as President, Carrie is stepping down from the Board.
Throughout those eight years, Carrie has given an extraordinary amount of her time, energy, and care to this organization. During her five years as President, she helped guide the Alliance through a period of significant growth in our programs, events, partnerships, visibility, and connection with LGBTQIA+ people throughout Chester County.
Her decision to step away comes at the beginning of a very special new chapter. Carrie and her wife recently welcomed their first child, and after becoming a parent, she realized she does not want to miss a moment of this time with him.
We could not be happier for Carrie and her family, even as we recognize what a significant transition this is for the Alliance.
Organizations like ours are built because people choose, year after year, to keep showing up for their communities. Carrie has done that for eight years. Her leadership has helped build the foundation that Sean, our Board, our staff, and our community will continue carrying forward.
Carrie, thank you for eight years of service, five years of leadership as President, and for everything you have given to the LGBT Equality Alliance and the LGBTQIA+ community of Chester County. We are incredibly grateful for you, and so excited for your family as you begin this next chapter together.
As we welcome Sean into his new role, we are also looking ahead to an important period for the Alliance. Our organization continues to grow, our community’s needs continue to evolve, and we remain committed to building the programs, partnerships, resources, and organizational capacity necessary to meet those needs.
To our members, volunteers, donors, partners, and community: thank you for continuing to be part of this work. The Alliance has changed and grown considerably over the years, but the heart of what we do remains the same: creating opportunities for LGBTQIA+ people across Chester County to find community, support, resources, and connection.
We are grateful for the leadership that brought us here, and excited about the leadership that will help carry us forward.
