The LGBT Equality Alliance Grant and Scholarship Program is made possible by generous contributions and funds raised through annual and monthly events in Chester County, PA. The Program is committed to supporting LGBTQ+ students with the goal of creating future leaders and activists.
High School GSA Mini Grants
LGBT Equality Alliance is offering mini-grants to Gender-Sexuality Alliance/Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) clubs at school districts within and around Chester County, PA. Grants provide funding for club activities, programs, and outreach initiatives. Grants do not cover travel expenses.
Grant requests must have an LGBT focus and include a project and budget proposal not to exceed $1,000. Grants can be submitted anytime throughout the year.
The LGBT Equality Alliance Scholarship is an annual fund awarding ten (10) scholarships valued at $1,000 each, to select high school seniors in and around Chester County.
The award recognizes the growing importance of financial assistance to deserving area LGBTQ+ students who are active in and supportive of the LGBTQ+ community. The objective of the scholarship program is to recognize and encourage academic excellence and LGBTQ+ community involvement, and to offer financial support to meritorious students.
Scholarship recipients are chosen by a competitive selection process and will have clearly demonstrated strong skills in key areas, including academic scholarship, leadership involvement, and community service.
Applications will be reviewed by the scholarship committee of LGBT Equality Alliance. There will be no student peer review and all application information will be completely confidential. Notification of awards will be made via e-mail to the address listed on the application form and not forwarded to the student’s permanent mailing address. You will be notified by email within 3 weeks of the deadline regarding the status of your application.
Deadline for this application is midnight on May 4, 2018.
- Students must be a graduating senior in and around the Chester County school districts.
- Students must submit a completed application.
- Students must demonstrate leadership and excellence through academic achievement and community service according to the mission of LGBT Equality Alliance.
- Students must plan to be enrolled at an accredited 2- or 4-year college, university, or vocational/technical school.
LGBT Equality Alliance has compiled a database of educators to enhance the ability of schools, businesses, and organizations to create a safe, inclusive environment for LGBTQ students, employees, and clients.
If selected, LGBT Equality Alliance will organize and fund a educational training session for your place of work. Trainers can focus on a variety of LGBTQ topics, such as:
- LGBT 101 / Terminology
- Transgender Issues
- Aging LGBT Population
- LGBT Inclusion in Schools / Workplaces
- Magnitude of Oppression
- Best Practices in working with LGBT students, clients, et al.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis while funds are available.
